The Centre Project

Advancing the conservation of wildlife and wild places to benefit the public

THE CENTRE PROJECT

White House Farm supports an earth-centred vision where nature is at the heart of living and the seasons are honoured and celebrated.

The Trust plans to restore most of the farm buildings to create a residential educational centre.  We will use renewable energy sources and traditional building materials and methods will be used extensively throughout the site.  A range of accommodation will be provided.

The buildings and the land will provide a healthy and inspiring learning environment for:

Environmental and holistic practices
Future talks and workshops may include outdoor skills, wild foods, sustainable living, organic and wildlife gardening, seasonal celebrations, co-creation with nature

Arts and crafts
Future workshops may include wood-based crafts, basket-weaving, nature-inspired art, poetry events

LABYRINTH PAGE (please click) - With the help of volunteers, and guidance from Jeff Saward (Author of Labyrinths and Mazes of the World and Magical Paths) we completed a 7-circuit turf labyrinth at White House Farm in May 2008.

A tree circle was planted at the farm on Thursday 21st February 2008 consisting of English Oak, Lime, Hawthorn and Apple.  A tree circle on farm meadows at Bramfield, near Halesworth gave the inspiration for having a meditation tree circle at White House Farm.

                                                                                              UPDATE

In 2008, funds were raised to undertake basic repairs to the main barn.  We have also received a donation of two woodburning stoves, one of which was installed in the main barn in February 2008.  Grants in 2009 will enable us to build an earth roundhouse for loos for visitors and to develop our regular wildlife surveys and our management of lowland meadow habitat.  We hope that income from workshops and other activities this year will provide funds for a large yurt which can be used at our annual open day and other events.
