TUTOR PROFILE

Gabriel Lange trained at Emerson College, Sussex, Rudolf Steinerseminariet, Jarna, Sweden, and the Assenza Painting School at the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland.  Her many years of art teaching include time spent in Edinburgh, London, Gloucestershire and Suffolk.   
 


ACTIVITY DAYS
 
The painting workshops are based on the indications of Goethe, Rudolf Steiner and Beppe Assenza.  The emphasis is on experiencing individual colours and how they relate to each other.  We work further with the dynamic of colour, leading to form, composition and motif.  This meditative approach can give new insights to experienced painters, and be a excellent starting point for beginners, as it deepens our relationship to colour through a sequence of colour studies.  The medium for this is watercolour, using the technique of veil painting. 

For outdoor landscape-painting gouache is recommended and the stimulus comes from the colours and forms we see in nature.  In addition, there are opportunities for still life, wet in wet painting, light/dark drawing, and working with crayons.
 
The painting activity days are friendly and welcoming and provide a good introduction to this inspiring and insightful approach to painting.
