GIFT SPONSORSHIP:
You can also give sponsorship to a friend or relative as a gift.  We will send your friend or relative a certificate of sponsorship, an information sheet, a greetings card and an invitation to visit the wildlife site to see what they are sponsoring.

Meadows
White House Farm has about 35 acres of beautiful species-rich meadows, a habitat that has dramatically declined in Britain due to the intensification of agriculture. The UK Biodiversity Action Plan states that species rich grassland has declined by 97% over the past 50 years. Losses have continued during the 1980s and 1990s, and have been recorded at 2 -10% per annum in some parts of England. You can help preserve this important and striking habitat by sponsoring either part, or all of one of our meadows.
Year's full sponsorship of a species-rich meadow: £500
1 sponsor funds all the management costs of one of the species-rich meadows for a year
Year's shared sponsorship: £100
5 sponsors share the sponsorship of one of the species-rich meadows for a year

Hedgerows
The 5340 metres of species-rich, mature hedgerow present at the farm is a vital corridor for wildlife to move from adjoining habitat such as Boulge wood to other local sites, and also throughout the wooded areas of the farm. It provides fantastic habitat for birds such as Nightingale, Song Thrush, and many other farmland birds and also gives shelter to a substantial population of small mammals amongst other species. In order to support this population of declining bird species, we need to raise funds to manage some of the neglected hedges that need urgent work if they are to remain suitable habitat. Year’s sponsorship: 1 acre of hedgerow coppicing £3035

Orchids
Orchids such as bee, southern marsh, common spotted and twayblade are abundant at the farm. Ploughing, reseeding and the application of high levels of artificial fertilisers all have a detrimental effect on orchids, causing a decline in these species. The management of the grassland at White House Farm is tailored to expand these populations of orchids and create opportunities for more orchid species to colonise the land. During the summer months these plants put on a fantastic show of colour and beauty throughout the farm.  You can help to sustain these impressive plants by sponsoring a meadow (see Meadows section above).

Barn Owl
The Barn Owl is an enchanting creature and the Sinfield Trust aims to encourage them to make the farm their permanent home by erecting nest boxes, monitoring the birds that use them and establishing an abundant and reliable food source by creating ideal habitat for small mammals in our meadows. You can help by sponsoring a nest box and giving a Barn Owl a safe and secure home.  Year’s sponsorship: £50

Nightingale
The Nightingale poulation has declined by 49% over the past 50 years. Nightingales arrive in this country in April and sing until late May/early June.   They sing at night as well as during the day and their haunting, varied song is very distinct and greatly admired.  Nightingales tend to nest in dense scrub or thick, impenetrable hedgerows.
A year's sponsorship contributes to managing a section of hedgerow to maintain suitable nesting areas for Nightingales to return to each Spring.
Year's sponsorship: £75

If you would like to sponsor any of the above or arrange gift sponsorship, please request a booking form (this can be posted or e-mailed to you) by contacting Charlotte Daniel by e-mail (please click) or by telephone at 01394 382992 (answering service).

Please send cheques to the administration office: The Sinfield Trust, Alde House, Sweffling, Saxmundham, Suffolk IP17 2BQ.  Cheques are to be made payable to The Sinfield Trust.

Sponsorship lasts one year.  If you would like to make regular annual sponsorship contributions we can post a standing order form to you.
